We received the following CarePortal request and received donations to help the father pay for childcare. Please pray for the mom, dad, and child in this scenario: Mother had a mental breakdown and tried to kill herself in the presence of her daughter. Mother placed her child with Father who shares custody. Father has had 3 yr old daughter for over two months and has her registered for school in Pre K in October. Dad desperately needs help to cover childcare expenses until that time. He is working part time as a contractor to accommodate his daughters need, has reached out for services and has her set up but needs help with daycare.

We got a CarePortal request for a gas card and someone from the community donated for the card. I brought the gas card to the mother, Kristina, and when I asked for prayer she said they are in an on-going crisis and they are living in a dangerous neighborhood and she really needs to move to a safer place for her and her two kids. She asked for prayer to help find a 3 bedroom rental, preferably in Roanoke County. We had some additional funds available and were also able to provide her with some basic groceries including toilet paper and some over the counter medicine that helps with a medical condition that she has.

We had a CarePortal request for a family that needed clothes for their daughter who is getting ready to start school. We received a donation from the community and brought them a gift card and I was able to talk to the father. His name is Duncan and he asked for several things for prayer requests. He said that it feels like everything in their lives is going downhill. He has to have heart surgery in November or December. His daughter has mental health problems which has kept her from being able to attend school yet this year. They have an IEP meeting this week to see about the school will be able to provide extra services. It has been really hard for them as parents to see their daughter struggling with mental illness. He also said that he feels a lot of pressure as the father to lead the family biblically. He said he used to attend Elevation Church and got a lot out of it but his car broke down and he hasn't been able to attend. He asked for us to pray for his relationship with God, as he hasn't been sleeping and when he goes to pray he feels like he doesn't even know what to pray for.
